Frank > New 27mm torsion bars and adjustable spring plates. These items will allow the Bug to ride like a normal bug and so low and unsafe. The Bug will have the toughest suspension a car Bug can have. I had http://www.offroadwerkz.com install my suspension parts, they did a real nice job, quick too. Now the Bug rides and looks like a normal bug.
Frank > Here the spring plates and the new torsion bars installed. The torsion bar is not visible but the spring plate is. You can see how the axle now is straight with the transmission and the tires. You can also see my rear disk brakes. Disk brakes are not stock for bugs. With the extra weight front and rear disk brakes were needed. The spring shocks were also purchased to improve suspension. Now the Bug rides like a dream. Even hard bumps are absorbed now.
Frank > This view you can see the axle riding straight.
Frank > Another view of the axle and the suspension.
Frank > Another look at my rusty axle and the spring plate. The torsion bar is located in the tube in the back running parallel to the rusty axle. The spring plates make this car easy to adjust the ride height of the car.
Frank > A view looking up at the cooling fan for the motor.
Frank > You can see the oil left over from the engine. You can see the motor attached to the transmission.
Frank > You can see the clearance under the car. The Bug rides really smooth now that the suspension has been upgraded. When the old torsion bars were removed they were bent under the weight of the Bug. The new torsion bars are thicker and stronger and will not bend or break under the weight.
Frank > A very bad cell phone picture. You can see how the Bug rides higher in the back now that the suspension is fixed.
